Manchin, Rockefeller, Rahall Applaud Reopening of Greenbrier County Community Based Outpatient Clinic

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, Representative Nick Rahall and U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller issued the following statement on the announcement that the Veterans Affairs Greenbrier County Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Maxwelton will reopen today.

“I am so pleased that the Greenbrier County CBOC has reopened its doors to our veterans today,” Senator Manchin said. “The nearly 2,000 veterans from Greenbrier, Monroe, Pocahontas and Summers counties can once again have access to the medical care and services they need without having to travel long distances to other locations. Our vets deserve the best available treatment and care without facing unnecessary barriers, and reopening the CBOC will help ensure those services are accessible to our veterans more conveniently.”

“The reopening of the Greenbrier clinic is welcome news and I appreciate VA officials responding to my repeated inquiries on the matter,” Rep. Rahall said. “I will continue to work closely with VA officials to help ensure our clinics have the resources they need to provide quality and timely care for our veterans in a safe environment.”

“Our veterans have given so much for our country, so we must make sure they have access to the health care and services they earned,” said Senator Rockefeller, the longest serving member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. “Our VA clinics are a critical access point for veterans, especially in rural areas, which is why I worked so hard in 1996 to pass reform legislation that authorized the VA to expand its outpatient services and introduce community-based outpatient clinics in West Virginia and across the county. The reopening of the Greenbrier County CBOC is welcome news for all our veterans who need its services.”
