Manchin, Capito Announce More than $3 Million for Head Start Programs in Fayette and Mineral Counties

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today announced a total of $3,062,774 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) for Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Fayette and Mineral Counties. This funding will allow the Fayette County Child Development and Mineral County Board of Education to continue providing critical health, nutrition, education, and social services to local families and children.

“In West Virginia, we’ve always prioritized our commitments based on our values, and that includes strengthening our families and promoting early education for all children,” Senator Manchin said. “Our kids deserve the best chances at success, and investments in important educational opportunities like Head Start lead our next generation to a brighter future. With grants like these, our students in Fayette and Mineral Counties will receive the care, education and services they need to compete in the global marketplace.”

“Establishing a strong foundation for our young people to succeed begins with promoting healthy habits and a solid education. This Head Start funding is great news for our state and our children, as it will improve access to the tools needed to excel far beyond the classroom,” said Senator Capito.
