Manchin Announces Nearly $1.5 Million for Northern Panhandle Head Start

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin announced $1,487,713 in federal funding for the Northern Panhandle Head Start in Wheeling.  The program provides services to children and families in Brooke, Hancock, Marshall, Ohio and Wetzel Counties.

“As West Virginians, we choose our priorities based on our values,” said Senator Manchin. “That means keeping our promises to those who matter the most to us, and our children should always be at the top of that list. With this substantial funding, our families and children will have access to the education and services they need to thrive today and in the future. Investing in their success will only help strengthen our economy and keep jobs here at home, and Head Start is where that success begins for so many of our families and children in the Northern Panhandle.”

Head Start is a national development program for low-income children that helps prepare them for school from a young age. The program, administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), offers eligible children and their families’ access to critical health, nutrition, education, and social services.
