Washington, D.C. — United States Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today congratulated Lewisburg for being named America’s Coolest Small Town as part of an annual contest sponsored by Budget Travel magazine. Lewisburg was the only town in West Virginia nominated for the honor.
“After this great honor, I’m happy to be visiting Lewisburg tomorrow for one of my ‘Coffee and Common Sense’ events. Every time I visit, I am just amazed by both its beauty and friendliness,” Senator Manchin said. “All of West Virginia knows Lewisburg’s beauty and we are so proud that the rest of the country will now, too. Lewisburg deserves the title of America’s Coolest Small Town because this community is truly a treasure – something for all ages to enjoy.”
Earlier this month, Senator Manchin recorded a video message encouraging individuals to go online and vote for Lewisburg in the annual contest sponsored by Budget Travel magazine. His message to West Virginians is available here.
Budget Travel’s web site highlights Lewisburg as home to one of only four Carnegie Halls and describes its popular annual Chocolate Festival.
“I truly thank all of the folks – from the Mayor of Lewisburg to Greenbrier County residents to the thousands of West Virginians and all of our many friends across the nation – for voting and supporting this vibrant community. Now, we encourage everyone to visit and see for themselves exactly why Lewisburg is ranked as America’s Coolest Small Town,” Manchin said.
Budget Travel has also recognized Fayetteville as one of America's five coolest small towns.
