Financial Analyst,Steptoe & Johnson-Charleston

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing accounting support to personnel in the Energy and Natural Resources Department. Maintains ENR reporting files, including monitoring of accounts receivable and unbilled. Assists accounting personnel, as requested.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide assistance with the end of month Financial Report preparation for the ENR Department; perform special analysis as needed.

2. Provide assistance to the Controller – ENR Department with regard to client research concerning historical and current financial data.

3. Prepare financial reports, as needed, based on client and attorney demands, under the direction of the Controller – ENR Department.

4. Assists in performing special cost studies, as needed.

5. Work with Client Accounts personnel to investigate accounts receivable balances and unallocated amounts.

6. Assist in the monitoring and reporting of unbilled for major Energy clients.

7. Maintain the Energy Department Escrow Account, which includes writing checks, when necessary, and maintaining appropriate documentation, including preparation of 1099 Reporting forms.

8. Gather and analyze information and respond to attorney and client questions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED - Financial Analyst:

1. WORK EXPERIENCE: One year of previous accounting or business experience required.

2. EDUCATION: Associates Degree in Accounting or Business preferred. Relevant business experience may be substitued in lieu of the degree.

3. SKILLS: Must be proficient in Excel. Specific experience with V-lookup functions, pivot tables and other functions preferred. Additionally, the ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Ability to work overtime, with little notice;
  • Ability to multitask;
  • Pay attention to details;
  • Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule;
  • Proficient computer skills (Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint)
