Manchin Statement On Memorial Day

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day.

“As Americans and West Virginians, Memorial Day gives us all an opportunity to show our gratitude and pay respects to those who have so bravely served and paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. The patriotism and heroism of the men and women who have served is nothing less than inspiring. West Virginians are no stranger to these sacrifices, with one of the highest Veterans per capita of any state, we know what these men and women have given to protect our freedoms.”

“Today, we also take time to recognize the patriotism of families who have lost loved ones in the defense of this country. I cannot imagine the pain that losing a loved one in the line of duty causes, my heart truly goes out to them. I encourage every West Virginian to take time out of their day in honor these Gold Star Families. I believe the best way we can honor their loss is by continuing to serve, coming together as a country, and helping out our fellow neighbors.”

“On behalf of every West Virginian and American, I want to thank every Veteran, their families, and the Gold Star Families for their immense sacrifice and patriotism. From the bottom of my heart, I deeply appreciate what you have given to this country. You are on my mind, in everything I do. God bless you all and God bless this great country.”
