Manchin Wishes West Virginians A Happy, Safe Fourth Of July

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) issued the following statement on celebrating America’s Independence Day:

“The Fourth of July is a glorious pageant full of star spangled banners, the red glare of fireworks and marching bands – a special day that brings together families, friends and communities all across this land in a joyous celebration of America’s freedom. But every snap of a flag, every crack of a firecracker and every beat of a drum is also a reminder that the freedom we are celebrating has been purchased with the courage and sacrifice of generations of American warriors, from Concord to Kabul.

“Flags, fireworks and parades – they are all part of the fun of patriotism. And I hope this Independence Day is a safe and fun-filled celebration for all the people of West Virginia, the most patriotic state in the nation. But patriotism also means keeping faith with those who’ve worn the uniform of the United States of America. So as part of your holiday celebration, I hope you will take time to thank our veterans for their loyal service. I also urge you to offer prayers for members of our armed forces on duty around the world and for their loving families who await their safe return.

“I share the pride all West Virginians feel in America, today and every day. And I wish all of you a very happy and safe Fourth of July. May God bless you and your families, and may He continue to bless the great state of West Virginia and the United States of America.”
