Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va) appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” this morning to highlight the “I Hire Veterans” kickoff that the Senate Veterans Jobs Caucus will hold this afternoon. Members of the media are invited to attend.
“Hire a vet. You want to show your patriotism? You put yellow ribbons up, we fly the flag. If you really want to help a vet, hire a vet,” Senator Manchin said.
Senator Manchin launched the caucus on February 7 with his friend Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.). Since then, it has grown to include 29 Senators from both parties.
Today, Senator Manchin and a bipartisan group of Senators will hold a press conference to get the public involved in the caucus’s “I Hire Veterans” movement. Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis will speak at the event to express her support for the caucus’s efforts to put our returning servicemembers back to work. Officials from the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, as well as representatives from veterans and military service organizations and the private sector will attend the event.
The “I Hire Veterans” logo is displayed below and attached. Members of the media are invited to attend, and encouraged to RSVP to email@example.com
