Manchin and Capito Announce More Than $926K For West Virginia Infrastructure Projects

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $926,558 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation for training programs for locators, excavators, and various other small vehicle operators for hazardous material response and damage prevention and pipeline safety programs in West Virginia.

“In West Virginia we are blessed with an abundance of energy resources and the ability to easily and safely transport them in crucial to our economies continued success,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will ensure this transportation is does safely and efficiently. In addition, this support programs that train professionals to respond to any emergency. As a member of the Senate Appropriations and Energy and Natural Resources Committees, I will continue advocating for support that enables West Virginia’s energy sector to continue to thrive and do so safely.”

“The success of the American economy depends, in part, on being able to move goods easily and affordably, and the efficient transportation of energy resources helps power our nation and enrich our daily lives,” Senator Capito said. “It’s important that we continue to ensure energy producers are able to do that safely, and this funding will help train first responders and develop plans that will keep our communities safe in the event of emergencies. As a member of the Appropriations, Commerce, and Energy and Natural Resources committees, I will continue to advocate for the responsible development and transportation of our nation’s abundant energy resources.”
