Manchin and Capito Announce Talent Search Program Grant for Marshall University
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) announced a total of $544,320 in funding from the U.S. Department of Education for the Talent Search Program grant. This funding will provide academic and financial support for students and prospective students at Marshall University.
The purpose of the TRIO Talent Search (TS) Program is to provide students from disadvantaged backgrounds with the opportunity and encouragement to complete high school and continue their education at the postsecondary level.
“The TRIO Talent Search Program provides our Marshall University students with important services, such as academic tutoring and assistance accessing financial aid, to help them realize their educational goals,” Senator Manchin said. “In order to build the educated workforce we need to keep our economy growing and to maintain a competitive edge in the global marketplace, we must make sure that every student who is willing to work hard receives a good education and the necessary resources and training to succeed.”
“West Virginia has some of the finest education institutions in the country, and it is important that we continue to support universities that help our students succeed,” said Senator Capito. “I am happy to announce this funding for Marshall University, which will help level the playing field so all students have an opportunity to receive a college education and thrive in the workforce.”
