Manchin, Capito Announce $2.4 Million in USDA Rural Development Funding

Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $2,409,700 in Rural Development grants and loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Housing Preservation Program and Community Facilities Program. This support will help deliver resources specific to the needs of communities across West Virginia.

“Investing in rural communities across West Virginia will support local businesses and create jobs within the community while spurring economic development across the entire Mountain State. The USDA’s continued investment in West Virginia is welcome news and will help communities as they improve community facilities, prepare for disasters and emergency situations, repair homes for low-income West Virginians and much more. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding and resources to help our rural communities across West Virginia,” Senator Manchin said.

“Rural Development investments like these from USDA help support specific needs in our communities that have the ability to improve the lives of West Virginians,” Senator Capito said. “From supporting our public housing sectors, to assisting our state’s Supreme Court of Appeals, to making sure that our local law enforcement have the tools they need to keep our localities safe, this funding will go a long way. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for the needs of West Virginia’s first responders, communities, and residents.”
