Manchin Praises Opening of Ramaco Coal Mine in West Virginia

Plant will create good-paying coal mining jobs and up to 1,000 construction jobs

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today applauded the announcement of the opening of a new Ramaco mine in West Virginia that will create good-paying coal mining jobs and up to 1,000 construction jobs in southern West Virginia.

“This investment is good news for our state and our miners in West Virginia who have faced hardship in recent years. I spoke to the CEO of Ramaco today to thank him for his commitment to hard-working West Virginia miners, and pledged to help him open these mines in any way that is needed.  I was pleased to hear that the construction and opening of this new mine will create good-paying coal mining jobs and up to 1,000 construction jobs. As I have said, our nation continues to rely on West Virginia to produce the energy needed to power this country. I will continue to do everything in my power to ensure coal remains a vital part of our energy future.  There is a commonsense path forward to secure the future of the coal industry, and if we work together, we can achieve it.”
