Manchin, Rockefeller, Rahall Announce Funding for City of Huntington

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of an ongoing redevelopment of Harris Riverfront Park, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller, along with Rep. Nick Rahall, (all D-W.Va.), Tuesday announced Federal funding for the City of Huntington to construct a new skateboarding park.

The City of Huntington is partnering with the Greater Huntington Parks and Recreation District to integrate elements of a “street” skateboarding park into the newly greened landscape of Harris Riverfront Park.

The $50,000 grant, awarded by the National Park Service Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), which is a partnership program that provides matching funds for the development of outdoor recreation sites and facilities, will provide skateboard enthusiasts with a safe place to practice away from busy pedestrian streets.
