Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today is asking West Virginians to use his new website, manchin.senate.gov, to give him their commonsense ideas for cutting the deficit before Oct. 14.

As the Congressional deficit reduction committee prepares its recommendations, Senator Manchin has retooled his website to make it easier for all West Virginians to share their ideas and priorities for cutting the deficit. Senator Manchin will submit a formal letter to the committee with the recommendations on Oct. 14.

“I truly believe in retail government – helping people connect with their government and providing the best possible service. That’s because this is your government, and your voices should be heard,” Senator Manchin said. “With technology changing all the time, I want to make sure West Virginians can make their voices heard and have the best access to me and my staff. Using this new website, people will able to contact me from all parts of the state and the country, whether I am back at home or conducting Senate business in Washington, D.C. I am especially pleased to say that in the future, I will be able to hold online town halls to answer your questions.”

Senator Manchin’s new website gives West Virginians better ways to communicate their commonsense ideas to the Senator, seek assistance, and learn about the Senator’s agenda to create jobs, restore fiscal accountability, achieve energy independence and keep our promises to seniors and veterans.

“I hope my new site serves as a place where the people of West Virginia can find daily updates about the issues that matter most,” Senator Manchin said. “And no website would be complete without a taste of what makes West Virginia the greatest state in this nation, so I encourage people to use my site to learn more about visiting our great state.”
