Manchin Votes to Confirm Energy Secretary Nominee Rick Perry
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on his vote to confirm the U.S. Department of Energy Secretary nominee, Rick Perry.
“Today, I voted to confirm Governor Rick Perry as the Secretary of the Department of Energy. As a former Governor, I understand how crucial it is for an executive leader to have his team in place. Secretary Perry has pledged to work with me on an all of the above energy policy. He has also committed to visiting West Virginia to see firsthand the work our coal miners do to power our nation as well as the incredible technological advancements that West Virginians are working on to ensure the future of coal and natural gas. I believe Secretary Perry understands the critical role West Virginia coal will continue to play in our nation’s energy portfolio for decades to come and I look forward to working with him.”
