Manchin,Capito Announce $6.7 Million For Head Start In West Virginia
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $6,738,607 for the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) Appalachian Council from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This funding will go to support Head Start programs across the state of West Virginia.
“Head Start programs are so important to many children who benefit from the program’s guidance and assistance. These programs have been shown to help children be more successful later in their education and career. I firmly believe that every single child deserves to have an equal shot at a quality education because it is the key to a brighter future. I applaud HHS and the Appalachian Council chapter of AFL-CIO for their efforts to help strengthen Head Start programs across West Virginia so more children can be served,” said Senator Manchin.
“A good education opens a lot of doors in life,” Senator Capito said. “I have been a strong supporter of Head Start throughout my time in Congress because I believe in the potential of every West Virginia child. By supporting programs that give our children the tools they need to be successful in the classroom and beyond, we can help ensure their future is filled with opportunity.”
