Thursday: Manchin to Introduce Legislation That Will Increase National Focus on Job Creation

Washington, D.C. — At 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown, Senator Manchin will unveil commonsense legislation that will help Washington stay laser-focused on what matters most: jobs. The event – an address to the 2011 West Virginia Leadership Conference – is part of Senator Manchin’s “Commonsense Solutions” Week.

“There is nothing more important than creating jobs, and it’s time that lawmakers start thinking about one very simple question before they introduce legislation that inevitably spends taxpayer money: are we creating jobs? My legislation will give lawmakers the tools to measure the real effects of their ideas on the livelihood of their constituents, and will help keep us focused on smart investments, not wasteful spending.”

At 11 a.m. tomorrow, Senator Manchin will discuss his jobs legislation at the IBEW Fourth District Progress Meeting.

At 2 p.m., Senator Manchin will visit IBM and speak with staff there about his new jobs bill.

Senator Manchin launched “Commonsense Solutions” Week Tuesday   in South Charleston, kicking off a series of events devoted to presenting commonsense solutions that will help solve some of the most pressing challenges facing West Virginia and the country.

As part of “Commonsense Solutions” week, Senator Manchin will travel across West Virginia to introduce a series of new policy proposals and solutions to problems including our nation’s fiscal crisis, high unemployment rates and substance abuse in our communities.
