From Hurt To Healing: Dr. Shelvy Campbell and minority youth
Join Senator Manchin, Reverend Ronald English, who delivered the prayer at the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. Shelvy Campbell, and 9th-12th grade minority students for the second virtual listening session as part of the From Hurt To Healing Series, which aims to amplify African American voices and invite West Virginians to think about how we can move forward to a more equal and just society. Dr. Campbell is the coordinator of Marshall University’s Medical and Pharmacy School summer program for 9th—12th grade minority students who are interested in careers in STEM or healthcare fields. Their perspective is valuable in understanding how their opportunities and their lives are affected by inequality and how we can do better as a society. Be sure to watch and, most importantly, listen as we hear from these young West Virginia voices. Additional listening sessions in the coming months will feature members of law enforcement, community leaders, and your fellow West Virginians.
