Manchin Announces $24.7 Million To Strengthen Healthcare Services Across West Virginia

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $24,724,116 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to strengthen healthcare services across West Virginia. The funding will specifically support 15 local health centers, enhance maternal and child health services, and advance scientific research at West Virginia University. 

“I’m pleased HHS is investing more than $24.7 million to strengthen healthcare services across West Virginia,” said Senator Manchin. “The investments announced today will support the critical efforts of 15 local health centers, provide essential services and resources to mothers and newborns, and advance important healthcare research at West Virginia University. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources that enhance the health and well-being of West Virginians across the Mountain State.”

The HHS Healthy Start Initiative: Eliminating Disparities in Perinatal Health program provides funding to support health services, food assistance, emergency supplies, transportation to care, housing navigation, and other critical social supports.
