Manchin Announces Service Academy Nominations

Recommends 28 students from 15 counties

Charleston, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced today that he will nominate 28 West Virginia students to the U.S. service academies, which include the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The students are from the following counties: Berkeley, Morgan, Hardy, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Marion, Ohio, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Summers and Wood.

“West Virginians have always answered the call of duty, and as the next generation of leaders, these students are excellent representatives to continue our state’s long tradition of service to this great nation,” Senator Manchin said. “Each and every one of these talented students put in long hours and did the hard work to earn their nominations to the service academies, which are our finest institutions for developing the next generation of military leaders. Our selection process was extensive, from grading students’ classroom performance to leadership abilities to their work in their communities. I am confident that these young men and women will make our fellow West Virginians proud by representing our state with the utmost distinction. I wish these students the very best as they pursue their commitment to serve this great nation.”
