Manchin, Rockefeller Announce $378,748 for Frankford, McMechen Volunteer Fire Departments

Washington, D.C. – United States Senators Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller (both D-W. Va.) today announced that Frankford Volunteer Fire Department in Greenbrier County and McMechen Volunteer Fire Department  in Marshall County will receive a total of $378,748 under the Vehicle Acquisition Division of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.

The awards are as follows:

Frankford Volunteer Fire Department ($95,000)

McMechen Volunteer Fire Department ($283,748)

This funding may be used to acquire equipment that includes, but is not limited to, pumpers, aerials, quints, brush trucks, tankers/tenders, rescue vehicles, ambulances, foam units and fireboats.

“The hardworking volunteers at our local fire departments are often first on the scene in an emergency, making sure that the people of West Virginia are safe and well cared for,” Manchin said. “These grants will provide our first responders – who sacrifice so much – with the equipment needed to make sure that they can quickly respond to West Virginians in times of need.”

“West Virginians count on first responders to be there in times of need. Our first responders bravely put their lives on the line daily and we thank them for their incredible service,” said Rockefeller.  “This funding will help with getting necessary vehicles so that first responders can continue to meet the needs of the community.”

AFG grants are funded through the annual Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act.
