Manchin Statement One Year After Newtown Tragedy

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today issued the following statement one year after the Newtown tragedy:

“Today, Gayle and I join all West Virginians and Americans across the country in grieving for the families who lost their loved ones in Newtown. Though we will continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers, my heart will always weigh heavier on this day as we remember the precious lives lost in this unspeakable and horrific tragedy. A year ago, as a father and a grandfather, I couldn’t wrap my head around how this country could even begin to offer these families comfort. Today, one year later, I am still in awe of their courage and kindness. There is nothing anyone can say to ease their pain and anguish. All we can do is pray that these incredibly brave families get through this indescribably difficult time.”
