Senior Corps Organizations To Receive Grant Funding | The Beckley Register-Herald

Four Senior Corps organizations in West Virginia will receive grant funding to tackle issues in their communities, including Summersville Baptist Church.

The funding will be used to help the organizations’ build infrastructure, provide transportation or housing, and allow for broader access to healthcare, such as opioid treatment and prevention programs.

Specifically, Summersville Baptist Church will receive $81,394.

“One of the best qualities of the people of West Virginia is that we believe strongly in helping our neighbors and bettering our communities," said U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., in a release. "I look forward to seeing the positive impact that these organizations have on their communities and will continue to advocate to help solve the problems our state faces."

U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., added, "West Virginia communities are strongest when we roll up our sleeves and work toward making them better places to live. By supporting volunteerism on the part of our seniors, we can provide an example for the next generation and ensure West Virginia remains a great place to call home.”
