Manchin, Capito Announce Funding for Stroke Research at WVU

Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $228,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for West Virginia University (WVU) to support clinical research related to neurological disorders.

“Stroke is the fifth highest cause of death in West Virginia, which is why I am pleased West Virginia University is receiving funds to conduct research that will directly impact our fellow West Virginians. As WVU continues to lead in research across numerous fields, I will continue to advocate for funds that support their vital work,” Senator Manchin said.

“West Virginia University continues to be a national leader in medical research,” Senator Capito said. “I’m glad to see the university receive resources like these, which will help advance our efforts to better-understand strokes and neurological disorders. I will continue to advocate for similar investments needed to support our medical institutions in West Virginia.”
