Manchin Statement on Biden Administration Expansion of Title 42 Order, Border Enforcement Actions
Charleston,
WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following
statement on the Biden Administration’s decision to expand the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Title 42 order to include Cuba, Haiti
and Nicaragua, along with other actions including surging resources to the
border. In December, Senator Manchin led a bipartisan,
bicameral letter urging
President Joe Biden to extend the CDC’s Title 42 order.
“Our
southern border is facing an immigration crisis that threatens to overwhelm our
broken immigration system. I am pleased with the Biden Administration’s
decision to expand Title 42 to Cuba, Haiti and Nicaragua to help address the
current crisis, but this is not the permanent solution we need. I remain
committed to working with the Administration and my bipartisan colleagues to
pass comprehensive, bipartisan immigration legislation.”
