Manchin Statement on the Budget Deal

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today issued the following statement on the budget deal:

“I am pleased that Democrats and Republicans were able to come together, negotiate, and arrive at a budget deal that passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. While this agreement is far from perfect, it is a first step toward getting Congress back on track. At a minimum, this bipartisan compromise gets us out of the cycle of legislating from crisis to crisis and allows us to focus on improving the lives of West Virginians. With the change of leadership in the House, my hope is that the new dynamic brings back regular order and gives us the opportunity to govern more effectively so that we can make positive changes for the country. This two-year agreement does not solve our long-term budgetary problems, and now is the time to take the next step, make hard choices, and get the job done.”
