Senator Manchin Donates Shutdown Salary to Save the Children Charity

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced that he will donate the salary he receives during the government shutdown to the Save the Children charity in West Virginia.

Save the Children has started several core programs around West Virginia that focus on early steps to school success through language, social and emotional development; literacy programs that increase reading skills; and healthy choice programs to increase information and access to regular physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

Senator and Mrs. Manchin have dedicated their lives to making sure all kids get a great start in life. They have worked to ensure all children receive the best educational opportunities available, proper health care and a safe and loving environment wherever their homes are in West Virginia.
