Manchin Releases Weekly Energy Report
Washington, D.C. - Today U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released a report detailing the price and production levels of coal as well as natural gas prices in Appalachia and nationally. For the week ending December 30, 2017, estimated U.S. coal production totaled approximately 10.5 million short tons. This production estimate is roughly 32.4% lower than last week's estimate and 28.1% lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2016. For the week ending December 23, 2017, estimated U.S. coal production totaled approximately 15.5 million short tons. This production estimate is roughly 2.4% higher than last week's estimate and 3.2% higher than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2016.
